Cold-Process Experiment

I re-batched the failed cold-process soap #1; it’ll be a few days before I can try to unmold it.

So on to cold-process experiment #2 — castile-brine, a combination of olive oil, lye, water, and sea salt. Apparently this kind of soap improves as it ages, and is considered to be at its prime after ten months to a year? Wacky. 🙂

This also needs to sit for a few days before I can try to unmold it, so maybe Sunday, we can see how it came out? It then has to cure for 3-5 weeks (and in theory, I turn them every few days to ensure they cure evenly, which seems sort of unlikely that I’ll manage to remember, but we’ll see…)

It’s nice to have a little time for creative experiments again — I feel like it’s been a bit of a mad dash since oh, early March? Trying to take July to remember how to breathe.
