When I tried to unmold my cold-process soap, it clearly had issues. Cracking and crumbling, and nothing unmolded cleanly.
The question is, what went wrong? I’ve been trying to read up, and there seem to be lots of possible issues — the wrong amount of water or lye (problem with the recipe), or maybe more likely, I didn’t achieve trace properly, because I didn’t have a stick blender, and tried to do it using my regular hand-mixer, which may just not move fast enough?
I’m going to try rebatching, but I’m not sure how to do that either — one option seems to be to just heat it with a little water in a double boiler. Another option might be to use a stick blender and try to get trace again? In which case, do I add water, or just melt it? I’m grating it up now, for easier melting, but am feeling quite uncertain about what the next step should be. Advice welcome!!!
