This tulip is me, being determinedly cheerful although I am very tired and curling at the edges — good library event last night, but a long drive there and a long drive back, and I think I may be old and tired enough that I should stop scheduling evening events far away on days when I’ve already had a long work day.
The library event was a Sri Lankan cooking class, with a good 20 or so people attending, and it went very well, except that due to city legal restrictions, I wasn’t allowed to let them eat any of the food I made, which made me feel like I was torturing them a little bit — it all smelled so good as it was cooking, and the event was from 6:30 -8:00, so I’m guessing most of them hadn’t had dinner first. Cruel!
The post-event evaluations were kind of hilarious — the librarian said that on a scale of 1-5, it’d been all 5’s, except for two 4’s, where the complaint was that they didn’t get to taste the food. Not the library’s fault!
Another long day today, and it turns out that Comcast has scheduled maintenance and internet at home is out all day, gah, so I am going to have to go into campus early to do much of anything. So I guess I’m doing that. Swing by Walgreens and pick up meds, get gas because I almost ran out last night on the long drive, work on e-mail on campus, do a last teaching observation, then possibly go to the department end-of-year event if I’m not too tired, then back to Oak Park for a school board meeting, which hopefully won’t go very late.
Tomorrow’s the last day of teaching for the semester, and I plan to collapse into a little fluttering heap of petals when it’s done!
