NY Trip: I squeezed in an hour at the Whitney Biennial, which wasn’t enough — I had to skip an entire floor. But if you have two hours to spare in New York, this exhibit is well worth your time.
The top floor was entirely devoted to Jennifer Packer; I’m pretty ignorant about visual art, and wasn’t familiar with her work. Very moving, with tremendous use of color.
“Drawing connections between the politics of representation, intimacy, and personal grief in response to tragedies of state and institutional violence against Black people, Packer underscores what is — and is not — made visible in American culture.”
