Also exciting was my first attempt at making tiramisu. I cobbled together a couple of recipes from the web (including such helpful tips as combining 8 oz of softened cream cheese with 1/4 c. heavy cream to make substitute mascarpone) and it came out pretty well, if I do say so myself. Ellie made gnocchi that night, and we listened to the tapes of Luca Carboni that Kirsten gave me (highly sentimental Italian music), so it was a thoroughly Italian meal. Fun!
Also fun was Irish dancing last night (I got up yesterday morning, stepped on the scale, realized I'd gotten woefully out-of-shape recently what with stressing over the thesis, eating, and sitting on my butt in front of the computer all day, so determined I needed to do more dancing) at the Starr Plough. I took Bernard, Ellie's Austrian houseguest, who turns out to be a fabulous dancer and picked up the steps faster than anyone I've ever seen. Maybe we'll go back and do the intermediate lesson next time. Danced for at least 2 1/2 hours total, and feeling not too bad today, except for the backs of my thighs which are sore from all the hopping involved.
Not fun is all the work I still have to do, so I'm going to run, my chickadees. Hope you're having a good week...
7:40 - Hey guys. Well, I know I'm trying to do too much -- I got to my creative nonfiction class today, and discovered that I had *forgotten* that they were critiquing something of mine today. Saved me hours of queasiness, I suppose. It was a great discussion, at any rate, and really revitalized me for the dreaded thesis. I cut forty pages today. Don't know if they'll stay cut, but it was exhilarating. :-)
David did find the flying pictures on Josh's web page, so take a look. The second photo is, I think, Muir Woods (or that general vicinity). Josh seems to think the Richmond bridge is the San Rafael bridge. I took a lot of bridge pictures -- I like bridges, and they photograph well. Oh, and what he calls Treasure Island, the big green island in the middle of the Bay, is in fact Yerba Buena (the Good Herb) (yes, this *is* California); Treasure Island is the abandoned military base constructed to the north of the actual island.
I'm wiped. A little chatting with Ellie and Liz (El's sister) and Ian and Bernard, and then I'm off to bed, I think. Get up early and work. Meeting with Julie at 9:30. Must appear productive. :-) Meeting with Christophe around 11:30. Meeting with Laurence at 1:00. I can't remember what I'm doing tomorrow night, but there must be something...
Why do I keep saying yes? I'll be reading erotica on May 5th at something or other in S.F. Will let y'all know the details when I remember them.
