I was honored to serve as a juror this year for the Salam Award for Imaginative Literature, a short story award given to promote science fiction and related genres of writing in Pakistan. This is very much the model for what I hope to do with a broader SLF international short fiction award, so it was particularly exciting to see the process from the inside. And I got to read some wonderful stories!
Congratulations to the 2019 winner:
Kehkashan Khalid for her story The Puppetmaster
The two other finalists were:
Umair Khan for the story Compound
Fatima Taqvi for the story The Third Feather
Honorable Mentions:
Sadia Khatri – The City of Mitr
