The title is misleading; the article is really more about how dating apps aren’t fixing the demographic crisis (by facilitating people partnering and having babies).
And the reason the apps aren’t that good at it is because if the app succeeds, you stop using the app, so there’s a built in disincentive for the app companies, such that they’re going to prioritize keeping you using them and getting as much of your money as you can.
Apparently Japan has a federal dating app for exactly this reason. Might be a good option for America too.
