Rough night — I stayed up a little late talking to Kevin, which meant I was overtired when I went to sleep, and unsurprisingly, my RLS kicked in, probably the worst it’s been.
Usually hot water soothes the nerves for twenty minutes or so, which is long enough for me to get to sleep, but last night, hot water and massage, my normal go-to’s, only relieved the twitching for minutes. I finally gave up and came down to lie on the couch where I could watch dumb TV re-runs to distract myself without waking Kevin, and I think I finally got to sleep around 3. TIRED.
RLS is supposed to get worse as you get older — at some point, I may have to try meds for it (they aren’t great, apparently). But for now, not letting myself get over-tired is my main strategy. Maybe if I can manage a few more years without meds, the researchers will come up with more effective ones! Go, science, go!
So taking it easy today — I didn’t try to write (no brain), I’m rescheduling a meeting I have later (Angeli, check Slack please), and I’m skipping swimming and yoga. Rest day.
Plan for the morning:
10 – 11:
- unmold any resin pieces that are ready and do necessary finishing work (sanding and/or touch-ups with UV resin)
- figure out which resin pieces are ready for porch pick-up or shipping
- have Eliana pack the shipping ones, make labels, and get them to the post office
- message the people picking up
after 11:
- post some garden photos
- start making a list of the natives in my garden because apparently I’ve agreed to be on the native garden walk even though my garden is a total mess at the moment
- post to see if I can find someone to come help with weeding, etc.
- switch out the kitchen from spring to summer (a little late! lots of running around this year)
- unpack from trip (optional)
- finalize travel plans for southern CA college tour
- read story for tonight’s workshop
- maybe make some Sri Lankan food; uppuma and mackerel / egg curry is sounding good.
7-9: workshop
Pictured: Joe Pye Weed (native), starting to bud out. I don’t love the look of the apartment building next door; I’ll be happy to have some of my view blocked with some tall Joe Pye Weed. 🙂 The second pic shows it with a bit of oak leaf hydrangea, and some monkshood (very poisonous), which will bloom in autumn.
