Morning breakfast with Jeffe Kennedy, thanks to Roshani for cooking, no pics from that, we were too busy talking, but I got some great advice from Jeffe which I really appreciate, she knows so much. (President of SFWA, 65 published books!) She has a Patreon where she advises writers, $5 / month, and I’m sure it’s well worth it.

And then in the afternoon Emily Mah Tippetts took Roshani and me to have coffee with Arkady Martine and her writer wife, Vivian Shaw. I’m a massive fan of Martine’s two novels (A Memory Called Empire and A Desolation Called Peace), so it was a pleasure to fangirl all over her — and she turns out to be a U of C alum too, about a decade behind me. Cool!
While I haven’t read Vivan’s work yet, I am also now a massive fan of her jewelry — I bought myself an early birthday present of one of her necklaces, and I LOVE it to pieces. Isn’t it gorgeous? Doesn’t it make me look more gorgeous? Yes, yes it does. 🙂
She’s about to open up an Etsy shop, Bleeding Hart Studio. Instagram etc. details on the business card in the fourth pic! There’s nothing in the shop yet, but check back — she has to take kazillion photos and upload them, and I’m sure you can inquire about any pieces in my photos —

We talked for four solid hours, and honestly, I would have happily kept talking to them, except I was very tired and about to fall down. But I hope to coax them to visit Chicago.
