Quick note that I’m starting to replace some of the rugs in the house that were damaged during the last months of our dog Ellie’s life — cleaning can only do so much, and they just had to go. Slightly gross note, sorry, but bodily fluids are an inevitable part of this mortal coil, alas.
But on the plus side, I was able to find a GORGEOUS rug for the front room. It’s a William Morris collaboration, “Owl and Willow,” featuring white horses that have a very unicorn-y vibe, which you know I like, AND lions (which are on the Sri Lankan flag). It goes very nicely with the green walls (Farrow & Ball’s Minister Green, not super-visible in this photo, sorry!), and with my terrarium coffee table, which features moss and little forest animals.
The rug will take a day or two to unwrinkle completely from shipping, but I like it SO MUCH already. And it’s from Ruggable, so it’s washable (a cover over a pad), useful should we get a pet again at some point…
It’s the 6×9 size in their third-thickest size (there’s an even more plush version that they recommend for bedrooms and playrooms, but the tufted standard is good for a living room, I think), which is currently $539 if you need a rug pad; I already had one, so that dropped it to $459, AND it was during a sale (not currently running), so I actually got it for around $350. Very good value, I think.
