I know my audience

I told Anand as he was getting ready for school this morning that I wanted to give him a heads-up about something the school board was planning; he’s an 8th grader, and will be starting high school next year.

The school board recently decided that there’s just too much learning loss over the summer, so starting in May, we’re going to be getting rid of summer break and going to year-round school, which should end up with much better academic results for our students.

He immediately started arguing with me about why this is a terrible idea. I think I had him going for a solid three minutes before I said, “April Fool!” and put him out of his misery.

I wouldn’t prank every kid (or every adult), but I know my audience — Anand thought it was hilarious. 🙂
