There’s something to this, but it’s also cultural and personal.
I only pull the curtains if it’s so sunny it’s overheating the room, or so cold it’s letting in a chilly draft — otherwise, as much light and air as possible for me, all the time. This was as true when I lived in crappy apartments as now, in a nice house.
