I left our heroine in mortal peril.

Writing accountability — 40 minutes, 755 words. Good sprint; got through a fun scene, and have left our heroine in mortal peril. Should make it easy to pick up again. 🙂

“Shanthi felt strange, like a current was moving through her body, pulling strength from her muscles. The piles of plastic trash began to shimmer? Blur? They were hard to look at now, seeming both there and not-there. Shanthi realized she was breathing harder, needing to take in great gasps of sea water to have enough air.”

Plan for the rest of the day — a friend is coming by for brunch, then I go teach. Done around 3 — I have a vague temptation to go to the Garfield Park Conservatory on my way home, just because I’ve been kind of craving humidity and plants. It’s on my way back, so maybe? But odds are, I’ll probably just come home.

Didn’t get any crafting done yesterday — I think it’s a little too grey in my basement studio right now, it makes me unmotivated to work when I go down there. I’m going to try borrowing Kevin’s sun lamp (that he doesn’t tend to use) and see if that helps. I have one in my office, and I definitely think that helps keep me energized in winter.

Apparently, I am basically a plant. Feed me, water me, give me lots of light.

Pic is of a new plant — did you know that Etsy is a great place to get all kinds of interesting little plants from home propagators? Did you know you can easily spend a lot of money on that, especially in the dead of winter? Now you know! You’re welcome / I’m sorry!

This is albuca spiralis, aka Frizzle Sizzle. I got it into the pot yesterday, but it needs to be topped up with more soil. I should go do that.

(From Sky Garden by Phoenix on Etsy — I ordered five small succulents, and they all arrived healthy, in good condition. Pleased. https://www.etsy.com/…/albuca-spiralis-frizzle-sizzle…)
