What an assistant might help with

Morning, folks. Had a good workday yesterday, 7-3, and then I got home from teaching, took off my pants, and basically collapsed into bed with the new T. Kingfisher paladin book for the next seven hours. Time well spent! If you’re looking for fun, often funny, romantic fantasy, I recommend this series. Especially if you also have a thing for paladins, which I’m afraid I do. (Not so much wanting to have a paladin, but wanting to BE a paladin….anyway.)
Plan for this morning — write for an hour or so; I’m supposed to write an important scene next, which I’m sort of stressing about, but I need to watch some coral diving videos first for research, so that will hopefully help ease me in.
I have until 12 free, then I have an SLF meeting (need to prep a bit first), then unscheduled again in the afternoon, hope to do some crafting, school board meeting this evening. I didn’t sleep great the last two nights, so I’m hoping the meeting doesn’t run too late tonight. We’ll see.

Eliana is coming to help me with some work this morning, so while I write (and then spend time dealing with e-mail), she’ll be doing various things. I was talking to a friend recently about what an assistant might help with, so in case it’s helpful, this is what I’m asking her to work on this morning, pretty much direct from my message to her:

“When you get here, come up and collect a stack of papers from me, and then I think it’ll probably actually be easiest for you to sort them at the dining table, so you have room to make piles. The piles should be: house / car / writing contracts / SLF financial / taxes / other financial / miscellaneous. If the contracts can be sorted by date, oldest to newest, that would help. And then I have folders to put them in.

Other things to work on today, while I’m thinking about it: cut up passionfruit marshmallows and toss them in powdered sugar, add earring hooks and necklace chains to a set of Valentine’s jewelry, take photographs of the three new jewelry sets.

Oh, and pack milk toffee orders, print shipping labels, and drop all the orders at the post office on your way out.”

Mostly, bring a little more order to my life, and also help me finish up various partly-completed tasks. Eliana Callan, Battler Against Entropy. That would look good on a business card, I think. 🙂

Okay, onwards.
