Learning more about how to make these blooming resin flowers — I’m a little in love with them. This one is rose gold alcohol ink, white pigment paste, and rose gold leaf. I tried painting various different shades of gold on the back of the earlier ones, but even though it’s more work, I’ve think I’ve settled on using gold leaf instead (or rose gold leaf, or silver leaf) — I’m just happier with the end result.
Pro tip (that I got from a reel), have a dustbuster handy when you’re leafing! Little flecks WILL go everywhere otherwise. I’m a little mad that there’s one tiny silver fleck in the big tray — it’s just enough that I feel like I’m not comfortable charging full price for it. We’ll call it a second, I think, and discount it. Looks like they mostly sell for around $55 – $75, so I think I’ll price it at $45. And I’m going to re-price the ones already in the shop later this week — probably I’ll go down tomorrow or Thursday, whenever Eliana
is free to come down with me and help me assemble a shelving unit.
The little coasters seem to sell for around $15 on Etsy, but I’m selling them for less, because I’m still learning and there are small imperfections. (I’m getting better, I swear. Give me a few months if you want something perfect.) It’s a little goofy — I priced some at $12, and some at $5, and previous ones have sold at both price points. I think I’m settling on something like $8 for ones that I don’t think are perfect. 🙂
These are almost done — I just need to seal the back and sides, and they’ll be ready to go.
