There’s one that is very clearly generated by ChatGPT (for example, it gets major factual things wrong, such as referencing characters and plot lines from other stories we haven’t read in class and misattributing them to the story under discussion).
And it just makes me sad. I like this student, they’re clearly struggling to keep up with the material and class in general (they’ve missed several classes), and I wish I could come up with a better solution than the one I have, which is to meet with them after class today, and discuss this, giving them the opportunity to rewrite. Sigh.
