I have help, folks. Lots and lots of help. That’s how I do it all.
Pictured here, Kevin and my college roommate Kirsten (who was visiting taking her child on college tour) assembling ribbon sandwiches for the South Asia Institute launch party for Tornado and Perennial.
Kevin made all the fillings the day before (which he has done several times, following my recipe), and I showed them how to assemble and cut the sandwiches, and then they did it all. Kevin also cooked down the mango chutney for me, chopped the onions for the jackfruit curry and potato curry, did at least two full sinksful of dishes, and I don’t even remember what else he cooked. Oh, he made both the cake batter and the buttercream frosting. And he and Kirsten cut the marshmallows and rolled them in powdered sugar, and cut the cashew milk toffee.
And oh yes, they helped pack everything up, loaded the car, set up at the event, sold books, broke down the event, and helped unload the car. As for me, I came home and collapsed into a little puddle, because despite all the help, I was very very tired. I climbed into bed at 7 p.m., got out briefly to take a bath, and then got back into bed.
The other way I do so much is by occasionally pushing myself to exhaustion.
But luckily, I have nothing at all scheduled for today (having driven Kirsten to the airport this morning), and I plan to spend the rest of today mostly on the couch.
If I get very ambitious, I may knit something.
