Forgiving Weirdos

Delighted to note that my department vote was unanimous for my promotion from clinical associate to clinical full. (The clinical thing is weird, but basically just means my odd position was originally created in the med school.) Thanks so much to everyone who gave me advice, looked over drafts, wrote letters for me, etc. and so on! It’s an intimidating process!

If achieved, this will be my final academic promotion. There are still hurdles to jump through over the course of the next year — I need to spend some time doing a bit more paperwork this week (writing a DEI statement and an interdisciplinarity statement, among other things), and then my promotion packet goes to the college, and then up a few more levels, so it’ll be something like summer before it’s all approved, to take effect fall 2024, I think. So probably no more updates for a while.

However it goes from here, it’s a warm feeling to have unanimous departmental support on this. Nice to be appreciated, especially since I’m such a weirdo. 🙂

I’m very grateful that academia is very forgiving of weirdos.
