This photo brought to you by my weird ears. I think I must have oddly-shaped ears, because I cannot wear the standard Apple-style earbuds without a lot of pain. And even the kind with the cushioning, I can wear for maybe 30-45 minutes before they start to hurt.
For my birthday this year (I always try to buy myself a present or two), I treated myself to new headphones (on big sale), and I have to say, these are MUCH better. I wore them for several hours on the plane yesterday — eventually, they started to hurt my outer lobes ( — Trekkies, please stop and imagine me as a Ferengi, crying out, “my lobes, my lobes!” — ), but only after about 4 hours.
I wouldn’t mind a recommendation for Bluetooth headphones with even larger ear pieces (these are Beats), though I probably won’t splurge on them anytime soon. I don’t need super high quality sound — I am not really an audiophile, and won’t notice the differences that other people with more finely-honed auditory perception might.
But mostly noting this because it’s nice to have music for long plane trips, and have it not hurt, and I wish I’d gotten this kind of headphone much earlier. Posting in case it’s helpful to anyone else!
