Clarion on Zoom has involved a lot of sitting — by yesterday I was hitting my limits and had started teaching class while standing at the kitchen island. I may end up teaching on the treadmill today; my back just can’t take that much sitting!
Benjamin Rosenbaum and I have also been trying to exercise daily, just to keep ourselves sane — we went swimming with Roshani on Tuesday, played racquetball and basketball yesterday (Ben came up with some modifications so we could actually have a competitive game — for example, every time he scored a basket, he had to run to the other side of the court and do five push-ups, giving me time to take a shot in peace…)
And then yesterday was Thursday Night Out, which is a little street fair up the street from me, so we walked up to the Y with Anand and played racquetball, which was quite fun (Anand seems to appreciate the chaos goblin energy of racquetball), and then walked up the block and ate things from various and sundry local restaurants.
And then I came home and collapsed into bed with Kevin and watched the new Strange New Worlds, which was just terrific. It was funny, because I suspect it had as many plot holes, etc. as the first episode of the Marvel Secret Invasion series, but we could barely get through the Marvel (Ben was complaining bitterly about it afterwards), but I loved the Star Trek, plot holes and all. The writing was just tight, pacing was great, it hit all the right notes. Strange New Worlds has just been great.
