They really do feed us constantly. Mid-morning break of chicken & mayo tea sandwiches, which seem a default on campus, as we’ve been served them many times. You can dip them in ketchup, which I was a little suspicious about, but it’s not bad — hot sauce would be better. There were also tasty little cookies that melt in your mouth — I think they said that these are classic bakery cookies here, but I can’t tell you any more about them.
And of course, chai. So much chai.
There are 14 students (all of who have given permission for photo -posting), mostly women, but some men. I suspect I’ve been defaulting to taking more photos of the women because I’m attracted by their vibrant fabrics — most of the men have been dressing in more sober colors.
Although I’m told that in the more remote villages of Pakistan, men wear very bright colors — it seems to be an influence of Westernization, the shift to men wearing primarily dark blue and grey and black. Not a good Western influence, in my opinion! Reclaim your colors, men of Pakistan!
