There are a couple of GREAT food courts in the Ala Moana mall; if you like East Asian food, you’ll have many affordable options. I didn’t get to try ALL of these, alas. Tangerine sandwiches turned out to be a sub-optimal choice because the membranes made it a little hard to eat — would have been perfect if they’d supremed the tangerines, oh well.
Standout was the black sesame mochi donut, SO GOOD. (Can I get this in Chicago?).
I also liked the Thai chicken meatball with peanut sauce sandwich and the beef curry pan (mild Japanese-style beef curry, almost a paste). You can trust and enjoy the food court sake sushi here, which I would not necessarily recommend in Chicago…
