I do not love cutting and sewing facings. I think part of the problem is that they just expect me to have more precise sewing skills, so when I try to sew them down and fold them over appropriately to avoid raw edges, I often have a lot of trouble getting quite enough fabric to do precisely what I need.
So my finished version often does end up with some unsightly raw edges and fraying bits of fabric on the interior, which is a bit frustrating. I think the only real solution is to get better at sewing precisely and/or cutting wider facings (assuming I have enough fabric) so I have more leeway?
