Running Some Things By George

I had to run some things up to George while he was in town, and Kavi and a friend were interested in meeting him, so I took them with me when I went over to his hotel. I think they had fun, though they’re too young (15) to actually have read / seen much of his work. They seemed to think meeting him was cool, though, so hopefully I scored some mom points.

It was a pretty complicated day — I woke up and worked on e-mail for a while, getting some Serendib stuff ready for the cookbook launch in five days, then I had a SLF meeting where we went over many things, then I ate a quick lunch of leftovers and went over to do an exercise walk with Roshani (I’m finally enough over this stupid cold that I can handle mild exercise again)…

…then I came home and powered through three scenes of story adaptation, finishing off the second pilot episode I’d planned to draft (first batch of writing I’ve managed in at least a month, I think), woot!…

…then I collected the kids and took them up to meet George and gave Sid a copy of Vegan Serendib because she and her household are vegan and she’s a very good assistant to George and also takes good care of me when I’m around him…

…and I gave George the two pilot scripts to read because he very kindly said he would read them and give me feedback, though he said he couldn’t promise it would be soon, and that is totally fine of course, because I don’t have any real plan for these pilots, I’m just trying something new out…

…and then I drove the kids home, and then I started heading over to WindyCon for a pre-con dinner with the Guests of Honor and conrunners, and then my car stalled out in the middle of a very busy intersection, which was super-fun, and then various people honked at me (boo!), and then various people came over to try to help (yay!), and then it started again on its own, and then I drove home, because I didn’t trust it to go all the way out to Lombard, and then the tow truck came and took it away to deposit at the service people…

…and I climbed into bed with Kevin and watched an episode of Andor (so good), and then I went downstairs because I was restless and made a Sri Lankan tamarind-pork curry for lunch with some writer friends tomorrow.

Whew. Bath, then bed.
