We’re doing an extended birthday celebration for Anand over the next few weeks, due to circumstances (mostly Mommy having a bad cold, and also being out of town helping my parents next weekend). We’re going to do an escape room in a few weeks, for example.
But he did get a few presents yesterday — here we see Anand destroying his father in a foam light saber battle in our front yard, which he told me later was one of the highlights of his birthday.
The foam sabers are very flimsy, and often turn off after a few hits, but they turn on again when you press the button, so I guess it’s just loose connections? I did like that they came with little glowing markers you could set on the ground to define the ‘dojo’. They’d also work as goals if you were doing some kind of chase game.
Link in comments, $40. (Locals, they carry this at the toy store on Lake.) There’s also a family pack available for $60 that has 8 sabers.
We actually bought this for the kids for Christmas last year, but somehow they never quite managed to open the box and play with them, so they’ve become a birthday present instead…
Anand also very much liked the walk his sister took him on to Candytopia — she gave him $20 to spend on whatever candy he wanted. That buys a LOT of candy, including a GIANT Reese’s peanut butter cup. Chocolate is generally Anand’s sweet of choice these days, though cookies-and-cream has been gaining ground…
