Garden Log 2/24

Still too cold to start working in the garden, but it’s supposed to start warming up this weekend. I’m looking forward to going out and tending to my hellebores — I like to trim off the ragged leaves from last year (though it’s not a requirement) and let the new growth shine. First perennials to bloom, I love them so much.

As you can see in the second photo, even if you dig out a hellebore you plan to move to the backyard and forget to actually get it in the ground, oops, it might survive, because they’re just that tough. And see? Buds! V. exciting. (I promise, I’ll put it in the ground as soon as it’s soft enough to work!)
