I think this was Friday, heading over to my aunt Priya’s for lunch. Amma’s anxieties sometimes make it very hard to persuade her to leave a room — she’ll get stuck, perseverating in much the same way a toddler might, and if you push her, she may well get angry, and then you’re even more stuck.
I’m not very good at persuading her, but it turned out that she responded very well to Kavi — if we asked Kavi to go get Ammama (‘grandmother’) and take her to the car, my mom would see Kavi’s sweet face, smile, give her a kiss on the cheek, and then let Kavi take her hand and walk with her to the car.
A small grace for the weekend.
