The Lucky One

This is me, having survived 45 minutes of battle with an exceedingly thorny rose. It is pruned! And I was only a little bloodied. I retired to the lounge chair on the porch afterwards. It was a little chilly today, but lovely in the sunshine cuddled up under a blanket, and I was finally tired enough after a few hours of intense gardening that I could relax and read a good mystery while Kevin made dinner.

Finished Lori Rader-Day‘s _The Lucky One_ tonight! This is a good one for those of you who like solving jigsaw puzzles — very complicated! It reminded me a little of that Sayers mystery with all the train timetables to keep track of…

(Of course, we still have to break down all the thorny rose branches and get them to the compost, but that’s a battle for tomorrow.)
