Random thought about having an assistant — it works better if you actually tell them what you want them to do. It’s been fascinating to me seeing how much I tend to assume that everyone around me knows how to do the things I know, whether it’s understanding how dynamic web design works and how to hand code basic HTML, or how to prune a rose bush (aggressively! the rose can take it!), etc.
All the little specialized minutiae in my brain, and I have to keep pausing to actually give Chris the information he needs to be able to do his job. Which usually takes less than five minutes, but I have to remember to DO IT. Sorry, Chris! I do not actually expect you to be a telepath. Though that would be nice. A telepathic assistant would be so efficient…
