Jury duty summons. On…
Jury duty summons. On the one hand, I'm kind of excited, because I haven't been an American citizen for very long, and I am totally in favor of doing my civic duty. The right to be judged by a jury of one's peers is a pretty important right. On the other hand, it means I'm going to have to cancel two classes, and my poor students have already had a rough semester re: class cancellations, between the UIC strike and the truly terrible winter weather. I can give them worthwhile work to do while I'm out. (It's happening at the very end of the semester, so perhaps it will just be extra time to work on their final papers, which they will undoubtedly appreciate.) But still, it makes me cranky.
