Garden question: I think I have reluctantly accepted that my side yard just doesn't get enough sun for the rose alley I had hoped to plant there. They bloom, but sporadically. So if I'm going to move six rose plants to sunnier locales, should I go ahead and do it now, or wait for cooler weather in the fall?
Also, what blooming shrubs might you put in a row down that side yard alley? Hydrangea, yes, but anything else?

The answer seems to be that, although the dormant season (later Winter to early Spring) is the *best* time, roses can be moved any time. Here are sites giving guidelines:
I think lavender needs more sun to really do well. But great info re: moving the roses — I think I may try moving two of them now, at least (the two that are struggling the most).

Besides hydrangeas, lavender seems to grow well anywhere it gets stuck.
