So, last night was the re-starting of the DesiLit reading series, after a long hiatus. The hope is that we can do these quarterly, and build up enough audience / volunteers to run Kriti again in 2013. It was a small event, I have to admit. I think that is mostly because I really am truly terrible at promotion. It's frustrating, because I feel like I'm pretty good at putting on great readings, festivals, etc., and then they end up having a quarter of the audience they should have, and then there are always all these people afterwards saying, "Oh, that was last night / this past weekend / a month ago? I would have loved to go to it, if I'd known about it." Argh. Drives me mad.
Okay, so that's a problem for another day. For now, let's pause and celebrate the fact that despite the small audience, we had a lot of fun last night, and I really enjoyed the readings and the post-reading conversation. I think we're going to get the DesiLit Chicago writing workshop up and running this summer, which is great. And the readers from last night may come over to my place for a writing day next week, which if it happens, will hopefully be productive for all of us.

I love that picture of you. That stance is pure, “I got this.”
