I came home yesterday to find all my pansies looking like they were about to keel over, and the rest didn't look so good either. I had forgotten to water yesterday morning. This was bad. But I watered them lots last night, and more this morning, and they all appear fully recovered. It's getting hot here -- maybe I just need to water twice a day.
Yesterday and this morning I did some real work -- revised a story that was once called "Endings", a 750 word piece that I wrote in grad school. It's now 2000 words, retitled "Lulu's Husband", and is hopefully better. It's also firmly in the same universe as "Season of Marriage", "Bodies in Motion", and "Lakshmi's Diary". I'm trying to figure out if "Challah" fits anywhere in this family. I think it would be the male Indian, if so. Thinking. Anyway, "Lulu's Husband" is out to the readers' list -- comments very welcome. I'm missing my writers' groups! I'm not lonely quite yet, but...
Wednesday night is the local SCA meeting; I'm going to ask Kevin to drop me off, I think. As it turns out, there's hardly any contra dancing over the summer, which is a bummer. Ah well.
I should probably try to find the Salt Lake sf writing group -- I know one exists, but I can't quite think how to start.
Anyway, I'm feeling productive, so I should take advantage of that. Talk to y'all later...
