It’s finally supposed to drop below freezing

Garden log 11/20/24. Well, it’s finally supposed to drop below freezing tonight, so I’ve collected what’s probably my last floral bouquet from the garden for the year. Later than usual, although I did have one year where I had lots of dahlias this late — didn’t get around to planting dahlias this year. A friend of mine also has lots of fancy mums that are still going; my hardy mums are finishing off, so I didn’t bother harvesting any for the house.

Still going in my garden is monkshood (very poisonous, do not plant or bring inside if you have small children or pets that might eat it), common mallow, black-and-blue salvia, a little second flush of May Night salvia, a few autumn crocuses, a little dianthus, Fairy roses, and one other rose (which also has several buds on it that probably won’t get to open, alas).
