Well, it’s raining, and for the first two hours I was open today at the Berwyn Shops, I had a grand total of 0 visitors. The rain eased up for a bit, and a family came through (they bought a greeting card and a bookmark), so there was a nice bustle in the shop for a bit. But then they left, and the rain got a little harder, and now it’s empty again.
It’s weird — it makes me feel like a farmer, that I should be anxiously watching the weather report, because a little too much heat or a little too much rain or not enough rain (for the farmer) might be the difference between a success and a failure that year. No wonder so many religions offer ways of requesting intervention with the gods / powers / nature itself when it comes to rain, or the lack thereof.
