New project — hellebore table. I’m almost thrilled with it; the only issue I have is that you can see some little puddles of resin in the cups of some flowers. Which is not terrible; it’s almost like little pools of water, it’s still pretty. But it wasn’t what I intended — I’m not quite sure what happened; I think maybe I put the layer of hellebores down on the mold without pouring some resin first? Oh well!
Other than that, I love it — I tried using gold flake instead of gold mica powder mixed into the resin to make an opaque layer between the flowers and the legs, and that worked well. It’s a little more dramatic; for the milkweed, I think the mica powder gives a more subtle effect that I like. The gold flake is a little more ‘ta da!’ But I think the hellebores like it. 🙂
Will let it cure a few days, and then take it down to Sprout on Thursday, I think. I might have enough hellebores left to make one more table, although I think it won’t be as multi-color; it’s probably going to be more all pinks, or all white-greens. We’ll see.
