Very random thought, as I see various inauguration photos of women wearing Chucks — I really don’t know why I bought dress shoes for Kavi when she was a little girl. They were always uncomfortable, she was always in pain partway through the event, she was always discarding them at the first opportunity (which I supported). I mean — why not just have comfortable sneakers that coordinated with her outfit?
I regret teaching my daughter that painful shoes were part of the price of dressing up as a woman. No more.
(Anand also dislikes dress shoes, but his were just stiff from lack of use, not incredibly poorly designed for comfort, as so many of Kavi’s were.)
SIDE NOTE: Chucks aren’t actually comfortable for my own feet, but sneakers generally, yes.
