I feel like the day is getting away from me somehow. I woke up, talked to my dad and Roshani for a bit, had a iGov meeting for an hour, did a Thanksgiving / podcast post, then Anand wanted to play video games, so we did two hours of Terraria and BTD6, and then it was 1.
I was going to start writing then, but I also wanted to get some masks finished first, so I worked on those, and now it’s 3 and I’ve JUST made it out to the shed, and I’m not even sure if I’m going to write because I am sitting here and seeing a LOT of yard work that needs doing before the snow comes. Maybe writing will have to wait ’til tomorrow, or at least until it gets dark and I can’t see the mess in the yard.
On the plus side, I’ve been watching a new show I really like while I sew, Feel Good, about a lesbian Canadian comedian in the U.K., also about struggles with sobriety, and I have to say, this feels so good and so real, it’s making it even clearer to me how much Queen’s Gambit was a stylish and polished empty shell. I know a lot of people loved it, and I was reasonably caught up in it while watching, but overall, I think it’s mostly smoke and mirrors, alas. Feel Good is on Netflix, if you want to check it out. Great dry humor. Definitely adult. Often sweet, without being saccharine.
I did finish this set of masks, and they make me laugh — the recipient is a mystery writer friend of mine, and she got one murder mystery mask and six charming teacup masks, and the whole set together sort of feels like a Miss Marple novel to me. Everyone’s getting together to have a lovely tea party and then a shot rings out! A murder!
