I think I was just really exhausted. I woke up at 7:30, went back to sleep, woke up a couple hours later, went back to sleep, and it was only when Kavi came in to wake me after 11, saying gleefully, “I don’t know if you know already, but Biden won!” that I was actually willing to wake up and face the day.
I’m declaring today a holiday. No expectations of getting any work or chores done — if it happens, fine, but if I end up lying in bed all day, watching people making pottery and falling in love (two different shows), that’s just fine. There will likely also be some reading of election think pieces, as I’ve already spent some time at FiveThirtyEight.
I asked Kavi if she could bring me breakfast in bed, and even though it isn’t my birthday or Mother’s Day, she said sure, so now I’ve had buttered toast and scrambled eggs and coffee, which was lovely.
I expect the rest of the day to also be lovely. Everything is lovely. Today, I love you all. But maybe most especially the voters of the great state of Pennsylvania. Sending a thousand million bazillion kisses in your direction. (And Georgia, we’re pulling for you.)
