All store, all the time?

Kevin has been planning to reorganize his home office, which worked out beautifully for me, because it turned out that desk he was getting rid of fit PERFECTLY into my plan for the space. Tentatively, I’m planning to set it up with a little tablescape most of the time, but also…

…I’m thinking about having free Friday crafting workshops

• learn how to press flowers
• learn how to use UV resin
• learn how to crochet
• learn how to design textiles with Procreate and Spoonflower
• learn how to write a cookbook
• learn how to stamp and emboss greeting cards

Need to figure out the logistics of that first, though. We’ll see.

I’ve also borrowed the rug from our laundry room, and Kev came down with me and helped me assemble the table tonight. (My wrist is finally improving? I think? But screwdriver is exactly the kind of motion it really dislikes, as I discovered when I put the plant stand together on Saturday.)

I also started bringing some stock in, mostly to make the shop feel a little more real? But also to check that the aesthetic was going to work, and I think it will — we’re going for something like autumnal Victorian professor in the woods kind of vibe.

Still need to figure out if I’m keeping the various pieces of furniture that were in the space (jammed in to the front right currently) — Sprout will take them away if I don’t want them, but they’re fine with me painting / wallpapering them, and I think I can make them work? If I have time for that much painting and wallpapering.

I brought Kavi over for an aesthetic consultation, and she and I agreed that the fake stone wallpaper had to go. Started ripping some down, seems like it shouldn’t be too hard to get it off. But I still haven’t finalized what I’m doing there instead. Maybe a different peel-and-stick wallpaper, maybe paint. Unclear.

The black on the back wall is also going to change — I think to a dark blue, maybe? Two options I’ve loved before:

• Farrow & Ball’s Hague Blue (though I’d do a color match with a cheaper paint for this project) — this is our bedroom, living room, and kitchen eat-in area: https://samplize.com/products/hague-blue-30-12×12

• Benjamin Moore’s Old Navy (as seen here on the body of my writing shed) — https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10158318963949616&set=pcb.10158318992989616

• Or I could go brighter, which might help make the space feel more energetic? This is the color we have on the walls of our basement, Benjamin Moore’s Deep Ocean:

I’ll probably decide tomorrow, and paint Wednesday — tomorrow is a teaching day, so not a lot of time for store prep. I’m unscheduled Wednesday, though. All store, all the time?

I kind of hate the blocky white shelves in the back. But I need shelves, and I don’t want to spend money. Something to ponder. Maybe I paint them. Maybe I cover them with fabric or plants. Hm. Hm!

Tired now. Children are fed (hooray, leftovers) and me and Kev too. Going to curl up with a nice book for the rest of the evening, I think, and try to stop my mind from thinking about the store ALL THE TIME.
