We’ll be signing the paperwork on Monday

So, I’ve agreed to do a three-month pop-up at the Berwyn Shops. A little more than three months, actually — they asked if I could start sooner, and I said yes, so I’ll actually be opening a week from today, on Friday. (This is all not entirely final — we’ll be signing the paperwork on Monday, but unless something goes weirdly wrong, it’s happening.)

Which means that I have a week to furnish my shed-store. I took a little time to wander through the other stores, just to get ideas. There’s very little in the way of built-ins in my space, and I don’t want to spend much money (if any) setting it up, so I’ll be scavenging from my house for much of it, I suspect. (Do we really need this end table? Just hold your drink, family…)

I’m going to be pondering aesthetic over the weekend. The focus is going to be ‘kitchen & garden,’ I think, with an emphasis on home goods, because there isn’t really anyone else doing that in the shops right now. I think I’ll try to sew up some cute aprons in the next week, to go with the tea towels I already have. I’m picturing one wall focused on kitchen — cookbooks, floral resin serving boards, tea towels and aprons, saffron thread jewelry, etc…

Another wall more garden, with vases and planters and botanical jewelry, along with Tornado and Perennial, so bringing in the breast cancer titles, which are also surprisingly garden-ish in theme.

I’ll definitely have my resin tables there (which can also serve for display), so the first question I have to think about is what I’d want as a backdrop for them. Either white or green, I think? (My shop at Sprout I did in ombré green.)

I have some white anaglypta (and Lincrusta) embossed wallpaper left over from the house, which works aesthetic-wise (and which can be painted), but I don’t know how hard those would be to install myself (with Kev to help).

Also not sure how much we have leftover; I’d have to inventory and see what’s survived in the garage. I have some silk green vines, I think? And fairy lights? I could go green and white, but then again, it’s a holiday pop-up, so if I keep it to just neutrals, it’s easier to go autumnal, then Halloween-y, then autumnal again, then winter holiday….

Much to think about! This should be interesting. Some of the other vendors kindly let me take photos of their shops for inspiration — locals, I commend them to you.
