History Geeks — help me crowd-source a list!

Query — I’m listening to the podcast This is History: A Dynasty to Die For, which tells the story of the Plantagenets. (Thanks for the rec, Lisette!) It’s really interesting and helpful for potential plot points, should I write this thing I’m considering, South Asian epic fantasy.

But, y’know, it’d be good to listen to something that focused on South Asian history instead of European. I’ve read a fair bit of Sri Lankan history in grad school, but I’m not as strong on the rest of South Asia, aside from the colonial era (which I teach). I’m looking for earlier eras. (The Sri Lankan material I’m drawing from is mostly from the 5th century, but I’m willing to mix and match a bit. Say 0 A.D. to 1700 A.D. Lots of scope!)

Suggestions welcome. Podcasts are ideal, since I can listen to them while crafting, cooking, gardening. But books also good, especially if not TOO dry. For this purpose, I need less of an academic treatise and more of a high-points version. Something that would engage a distracted college student would be ideal.

I know I have some history geeks here — help me crowd-source a list!

Thanks!
