They may have to put with a little more mommy time

Slow day — I was feeling pretty queasy for most of yesterday; I thought it was just tiredness and overwork, but now I think I must have been a little sick. Managed to get through my training session with Liz this morning, but she took it pretty easy on me once she saw how slowly I was moving. Then I pretty much took to the couch for most of the morning and afternoon; wasn’t able to do much.

Thankfully, my stomach seemed to be settling by 4-ish, and I feel mostly okay now. I managed to get the kids fed, and they helped out with dishes and other chores; we even had a long conversation about summer plans and what we all would like to do this summer.

I’m hoping for more time with the kids — we’ll see if we can pull that off. It has to be pretty intentional at this point; otherwise they’ll just wander off with their friends or on their own. It’s great that our kids are so independent and self-sufficient…but also, I miss them. They may have to put with a little more mommy time this summer.

Among other things, I want to put some serious time into teaching Kavi how to cook her favorite dishes, so she can get lots of practice with them before college. We’ll see if that actually happens.

After we talked, I managed to go down to the basement and spend an hour doing the next layer of resin on various pieces. Jalissa’s table is almost done, and there are some peony bookends in progress. I don’t want to commit to them going to anyone in particular until I get a chance to unmold them and see if I actually like the end result. I’ll probably add a gold leaf layer tomorrow and unmold them on Saturday, so stay tuned.
