A resin question having to do with cloudiness.

Okay, I have resin questions. I tried to make a nightlight with embedded LED lights, and I’m a little annoyed that I didn’t put the lights further back — I don’t like the wires being so visible.

But my big question has to do with cloudiness. When I pour my coasters and unmold them, they’re clear on both sides. But with this, it’s only clear on the back — the sides and front, in contact with the mold, are cloudy.

Question 1: Why does this mold do that, and the coasters don’t?

Question 2: I’ve seen video of people who add another coat of resin to the cloudy front (first applying Elmer’s glue to the back, to avoid drips) and say that it makes it clear once it cures. I find this hard to believe — does this really work? Why does it work? So confused.
