Garden log 2/16/24. I was happy enough with my earlier order of starter plants from Jasper Plants on Etsy that I ordered some more. Initially I’d gotten salvia and alliums, which are the ones that are looking nice and green now; they arrived a few weeks ago.
Today I added the new arrivals — a few varieties of echinacea, which I’m planning to put in the parkway to hopefully have an explosion of late summer color, and several creeping phlox varieties, which I’m hoping will form a carpet of interconnected groundcover. Some bellflower and agastache, to provide spikes of tall blue color.
And then a few other somewhat random shrub choices — a baptisia, a few hardy hibiscus, a rose, etc. We’ll see how they go — they are so tiny now.
Mostly, though, I wanted to note that it’s I’m glad I’m finally starting on these — normally I’d be starting seeds myself by now, and I just have had a hard time getting up the energy. But it’s so cheering being under the grow lights, watering these cute little green things. Good for the February soul.
P.S. — I seem to have mixed up my bellflower and agastache tags, and I’m not sure from the leaves which is which. If you know, please let me know. 🙂
