Did a little more decorating at the shop yesterday after the workshop — I found a decent price for a set of three birch trees, so I put one in my window, and the other two are elsewhere in the store. The big star is one we normally use to decorate our porch; I’ve definitely been scavenging all sorts of decor from my house for the shop!
Eliana‘s daughter Gabriella came down with me and helped me set up — that’s her up on the ladder, hanging up snowflake chains and building a snowflake tree out of window clings. Even though she’s a 7th grader, she’s a few inches taller than me, which definitely helped!
The dress form I borrowed continues to give good service; I’m calling this one the Snow Queen, thinking about the White Witch from Narnia but mostly about Hans Christian Anderson’s story about Gerda and Kai. I had a white corset from long long ago (which does not fit me anymore, alas), and a length of beautiful fabric that I’m planning to wear as a sari someday, so I draped a sari for the dress form.
One of the other vendors thought she looked like a Christmas bride, which wasn’t exactly what I was going for, but I can see it. Draped some crystal rope around her neck and a bit of the fabric for a scarf (in part to disguise the slightly battered bits of the form), and pinned a crown to the top.
