So, my rent for the little Berwyn shop is $225 / month — yesterday, I hit that number in sales, about a week-and-a-half in. The city does take 5%, so I haven’t quite broken even yet on rent, and there was a little in paint and other set-up costs, and of course we’re not factoring in my time either for staffing (15 hrs / month) or production, or the cost of supplies, or the cost of my assistants’ time. So we’re not seeing anything like profit yet, or even breaking even.
But that said, the store is fully stocked, and we’re heading into the holiday season, and it’s really a perfect place for holiday shopping. It’ll be very interesting to see what happens over the next two months…
