The gooseberries I planted last year have started bearing fruit — I’m grateful, because I basically stuck them in the ground and forgot about them — I had to unearth them from a bunch of aggressive ivy this morning.
This variety (Hinnonmaki Red Gooseberry) is edible now, but tart — it’ll get sweeter as it continues to ripen, and will eventually be a dark red, supposedly with a wine-y grape flavor. Looking forward!
