My mother couldn’t be at Kavi’s sari day party; she’s in care these days, and it would have been both challenging and traumatizing for her to manage the airport, etc. to be here. It was sad for all of us — Amma would’ve loved seeing her granddaughter all dressed up in a sari for the first time, and would have been meticulous in arranging the pleats.
My dad brought some of my mother’s jewelry with him when he came, and Kavi chose this necklace of her Ammama’s to wear. Amma appreciates beautiful things, and I know she would have loved passing this on to her granddaughter. People say Kavi looks like her; I can see it.
