The strange heat wave of the past week has meant that some flowers are opening earlier and not lasting as long as they normally would; some of my earliest hellebores seem like they’re almost done flowering, which is a shame, since they usually bloom for a few months. But most are still going strong, thankfully.
This is my third hellebore bowl of the season — I collected the first set March 22, and the flowers usually last a week or so before wilting. I’ll probably do at least one more before the season’s over, so about a month-and-a-half of indoor flowers, which is pretty good.
I’m pretty happy with the variety I have here now, but I do have some duplicates, and I think I’m going to just start giving those away next year (as well as some divisions). I’d like to spread the love of hellebores through the neighborhood.
Warning — once you start, it can be a little addictive.
